Connections 2 (2005)
About The Artist:
Kaitrin Beechey is 20 years old. Since graduating from high school in 2003,
she has concentrated on developing her art career and working with the ASD
community to help parents and educators to better understand Asperger people.
She is also an apprentice at a stained glass studio and works part-time at
Michael's Arts and Crafts. Besides art, Kaitrin enjoys music, reading, hiking
and travelling.
Artist's Statement:
I started drawing when I was very young, whenever I did not have anything else to
do. But as I grew older, drawing became the "windows" to my world. My whimsical
art often portrays fantasy settings and imaginary characters. My pictures have a
lot of detail. I use black pens and sometimes pencil. I like to fill the entire
space to make it really intricate. I like the dramatic effect of black and white
patterns and shaded backgrounds.
I get my ideas from many places – reading favourite books, like "Harry Potter";
watching movies like "Lord of the Rings"; listening to music, like "Enya"; hiking
in the woods and my vivid imagination. I market my art through a venture that I
call "WINDOWS BY KAITRIN". My product line includes signed, limited edition
prints and note cards.
Future interests include developing a website for my art, experimenting with glass
and other mediums; and publishing a book featuring my work. Over the past year,
I have been very busy with my art sales and exhibitions and I always welcome
feedback on my work.
