About the Artist:
Sandy Brand is a Canadian citizen who was born in Scotland in 1946. She studied
at Glasgow School of Art and University of Toronto where she majored in painting.
Sandy divides her time between her home in Etobicoke and Nanaimo, BC.
This year Sandy was invited to represent Canada, painting in Dubai, in the United
Arab Emirates at Emaar International Art Symposium with artists from all over the
world.
Sandy sells her art, leases it for homes, corporations, film sets and leads
art classes and workshops (with both adults and children).
She writes of herself: "I have had an incredibly rich and varied life, have four
wonderful (adult), sons, and got married again this year! I am a spiritual
creature with a very optimistic attitude."
Artist's Statement:
I express my emotions, my spirituality, and my ever changing autobiography through
my work. In sharing some of it with you I become vulnerable, but human and "right
sized".
My experiences in the mountains of Nepal changed me. I now feel I belong to this
earth and have an intense love for it. I know I am a tiny but essential part of
it. It is my hope that your soul will sense this energy and life force through my
work.
