Connections 2 (2005)
About the Artist:
Because Dilbeck relies on touch and feeling, she has been working with objects
from nature and found objects. She draw as she feels. Recently, she has been
collecting an assortment of pods, seeds, shells, and such. She wanst to show
the intricate interiors; all the details of what’s inside.
Artist's Statement: I see God everywhere in nature. I’ve begun working in clay and make clay orchids. This is something I can do on my own with very little help. Sometimes they’re painted and sometimes I use glaze and have them fired. I make relief prints on Styrofoam because I can somewhat feel the lines of my drawings. A lot of colours remain in my memory and I enjoy choosing and mixing up colours. But I need help with the painting process. Most recently, I began working with finger paints and watercolours because I can do it on my own and combine the drawings into Styrofoam. I’m mostly painting outdoor scenes, flowers and natural objects. My hope is that my work will give joy and inspiration to others.
