Connections 2 (2005)
About the Artist:
The paintings Tony creates primarily come from his imagination and hope for the world.
The subject matter is, for the most part, houses or small communities, yet he also
paints about events that happen in his everyday life.
As his body changes so does his art. Tony paints lying on a thick mat. His range of
movement is very small. He has one arm that holds him up, while the other arm is
used to paint. The whole, Paint A to B, of painting is very deliberate and a somewhat
slow process. This process shows clearly in his work.
Artist's Statement:
Tony's pieces have very little movement in them. They are more intended as a snapshot
of his dreams and life. The colours that he uses are intense, graphic, and somewhat
primitive in nature. He places certain colors next to one another to invoke a feeling,
which bids the viewer to come a little closer to a world that he would want them to
enjoy, because of the many nooks and crannies to explore.
Tony uses perspective in some of his paintings and in others he doesn’t. While learning
the use of proper perspective, on a continual basis, Tony finds it fun to play with
spatial relationships while conveying his ideas.
