Connections 2 (2005)
About the Artist:
A native of Toronto, Tim has had a life-long interest in art as well as in nature
and environmental concerns. As a young boy he explored the local ravines looking for
birds and whatever else he could find. He was also an avid painter and draftsman,
skilled well beyond his years.
Tim attended the Ontario College of Art where he participated in an off-campus studies
program in Florence, Italy where he studied drawing, painting and other disciplines
in the visual arts. After his graduation, Tim pursued a career as a commercial artist
and began to paint in a realistic manner, mostly wildlife, domestic animals and
landscapes.
Artist's Statement:
In my work I seek refinement and detail and a more literal interpretation of nature
as well as man's effect on it. As our population increases natural spaces are
threatened and are being destroyed. Many species are in decline and threatened with
extinction. Our quality of life is deteriorating as a result of this encroachment.
I seek to represent accurately that which is threatened as it can effect one's
mental health. Given this it is a challenge to remain optimistic.
