About the Artist:
Dorothy was born and raised in Edmonton. After spending many years on her own, including several years in Montreal, Dorothy is currently living with her parents in Edmonton.

Dorothy spends a lot of time at the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts. She loves to paint and draw and experiment with new media. She says that she enjoys coming to the centre more than anything else.

As well as attending regularly during the day, Dorothy is also involved in the Human Rights Project, an artists’ group that incorporates discussing current human rights issues and the creation of activist art. Dorothy also spends time at the Centre for Literacy every week where she is upgrading her reading and writing skills. An avid collector and a big fan of Walt Disney, worthy isn’t afraid to embrace her inner child.

Artist's Statement:
Dorothy likes to inspire her viewers, "Because there are so many faces in the world". Her paintings include pictures of trains, imaginary places and people, and still life images.

She also likes to work in the abstract realm, using block printing and ink and markers; she creates vivid works that resemble landscapes or ancient maps.

Dorothy is a very committed artist, always happy to discover a new technique or media.
