Connections 2 (2005)
About the Artist:
Tracy has her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and both a Master of Fine
Arts in Painting and Drawing. In her own words Tracy states "The activity
of drawing has long been a personal favourite. I think it has always charmed
me because of its simplicity and versatility. It never stops providing me
with both pleasure and ideas."
Artist's Statement:
These paintings are part of a larger body of work produced over the past
2 years. I have long been compelled to paint objects which may or may not
be capable of having a name and/or a function.
For me, the challenge of making a respectable painting is coming up with
an object convincing to the viewer and placing that object in an environment
which is equally compelling.
Though I do not consider myself to be a landscape painter, I am (for now)
using the horizon line to provide these objects with a certain degree of
scale and weight. I consider these landscapes to be a temporary resting
place.
