About the Artist:
I have been creating images in photography off and on since about 1967, when taking
courses from Minor White at his MIT studio. They fall into several categories –
fine print B&W (although I no longer do darkroom work, having gone to digital/giclee),
nature photography, color transformations, and some old photos of MIT Crew. I started
experimenting with color transformations in about 1969, by having color slides printed
as if they were Kodacolor negatives. I now do that in Adobe PhotoShop using such
controls as invert, levels, hue/saturation, and gradient, with both B&W and color
images. I am currently living on disability and pursuing Guitar Art in my Ticket to
Work Program.
Artist's Statement
"Brown Window and Door":
My MIT dorm room was painted in bleak greys. Not exactly cheering to someone struggling with
PTSD and depression. Turning it into browns and yellows makes it warmer than it was.
I like thise colors – they make me feel better.
"Life in the Window":
Grandma used to keep her plants mostly in this little jungle.
And there is something about light coming through thr window that attracts
me just like it does the plants.
