The Canadian Society for Social Development - Online Training

The Canadian Society for Social Development (CSSD) is a federally incorporated non-profit with charitable status, providing online-training to Canadians with disabilities. See: www.cssd-web.org

Courses have online coaches that work with you throughout the day; there’s also, live workshops in a virtual classroom. Programs include:
1) The Internet Business Development for Entrepreneurs (IBDE), web design program. It is a six month, online accredited course that teaches you how to create a website for either your own business or for other small businesses. To sign up for the October intake go to: www.ibde.ca.

2) The Business Abilities Program. This is a free, 1 year self-paced business planning and management course for persons with disabilities. You will learn how to research your business idea and create your own business plan. See: www.businessabilities.ca for intake opportunities (ongoing)

Marketing/Outreach Intern - Abilities Arts Festival

Abilities Arts Festival is looking for an outgoing, enthusiastic and dedicated volunteer to help with marketing and outreach in preparation for this year’s festival. This is a volunteer position for two days per week (scheduling is flexible) from July 27, 2009 – October 16, 2009.

Responsibilities Include:

• researching potential outreach opportunities; determining effective outreach opportunities and specific contacts
• contacting organizations with info on AAF and this year’s events
• providing organizations with materials (electronic and hard-copy) for organizations to distribute to promote AAF
• following up with organizations to ensure effective promotion of the festival
• maintaining a comprehensive list of contacts researched and contacted (both successfully and unsuccessfully)
• identifying possible media opportunities for promotion

Qualifications:

• experience in online research, marketing and outreach required
• experience in a non-profit setting an advantage but not required
• proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

The Children's and Youth Photography and Film Exhibit - Abilities Arts Festival 2009

n exhibit of photography and short films by children and youth with disabilities will be on display both during and after the day-long celebration.

Our past experience shows that this unique exhibit captures the imagination, beauty, creativity and wisdom of photography and films created by children with disabilities and allows for active involvement in the arts.

We are currently asking children and youth with disabilities to create and send us their creative masterpieces for inclusion in the photography and film exhibit.

Projections Film Form - Abilities Arts Festival 2009

The Abilities Arts Festival is seeking works by filmmakers with disabilities that exemplify excellence, innovation and creativity in film. Films that provoke, enlighten and offer diverse perspectives. Films that are innovative and entertaining. We welcome submissions of features, documentaries, or animation films that are either feature-length or shorts.
