Sheila Boyd

Sheila's first shot at the limelight came in 1968, when she was eight years
old and honoured as that year's Miss Easter Seals in Hamilton, Ontario. She
weighed just 32 lbs and was less than 3 feet tall at the time, Mayor Vic
Copps claimed "She's the cutest one yet!"
Boyd was born with spina bifida, club foot and scoliosis, but she has been
determined never to let her disabilities be an obstacle in pursuing her
goals. Today, she is a singer and actor who has appeared in episodes of Due
South, Goosebumps, Exhibit A, and the feature films 54 and A Simple Wish.
She has appeared in a variety of cabaret theatre productions, sings the
Canadian and American national anthems at hockey games and fundraising
events And is currently the ACTRA Toronto Performers Diversity Advocate and
Chair of ACTRA’s AccessAbilities Task Force.
As part of Abilities Arts Festival 2005, Sheila Boyd performed at the
festival's Sunday Morning Show.
