Max Fomitchev in the persona of Max-i-mime is considered to be one of Canada's most expressive artists. He is an internationally recognized mime artist who uses the classic mime techniques of flexibility and strength, combined with physical comedy and expression. Fomitchev transports his audience into a world of laughter and pathos using only his body, his face and a few props.

Moscow-born Fomitchev earned his MFA in Drama, graduating at the top of his class. After joining the famed Zakutok Theatre, Max toured the world including throughout Russia as well as to Spain, Germany, Taiwan, England, the United States, and Canada.

This performing troupe was invited to Deaf Way in Washington, DC in 1989 and the empowering experience changed Max forever. Two years later, he defected from Russia to live in Vancouver. Since that time Fomitchev has performed on stage, in numerous television commercials, in TV series and in film including his performance in feature the film "Saving Silverman" starring Jack Black. Fomitchev astounds audiences with his versatility and keeps them in stitches with his physical comedy. From the most sophisticated of audiences to those with children, Fomitchev dazzles crowds with charm, talent and humour.

As part of Abilities Arts Festival 2005, Max was a featured performer at the festival's evening gala at the Glenn Gould Studio. In addition Max performed to a full-house of children and youth with disabilities at "In Celebration of our Children and Youth - 2005".
